Add calendar invites to scheduled maintenance

As a subscriber, I would want to add announced maintenance windows to my calendar. I can do this manually, but having a "meeting invite" added automatically to maintenance notifications sent by e-mail would be a much easier workflow for me.
When the date/time range of a scheduled maintenance changes, an updated invite should be sent along with the notification.

I was not aware of the iCal feed, thanks a lot!
Some drawbacks I noticed with the iCal feed:
* Adding an iCal feed to an Outlook/Exchange calendar is not always straightforward (eg Outlook for Mac can not add it on its own, but OWA can do it and then it shows in all(?) Exchange calendars)
* It seems that only the events for the next 7 days(?) are included in the iCal feed? For longer-term maintenance plans, a longer time period in the iCal feed would be helpful.
A single invite for a maintenance notification would still make sense to make this more accessible (as compared to the iCal feed), but I see that these invites are not simple to implement, especially if a maintenance is rescheduled.

Hi Matthias Leisi,
- Oh I see. Do you know of an alternative calendar format that Outlooks supports instead?
- This is configurable in your status page settings under the "Display scheduled maintenance" setting.
Yeah calendar subscription for individual maintenance is interesting for sure. Maybe we'd start first with giving better support for Outlook calendar, like we did with Google Calendar.

Hi Eduardo Messuti,
- I'm not very familiar with the various Outlook versions - it seems that my main Outlook for Mac supports little in terms of external calendars (apart from "simple invites"). Generally, subscribing to iCal seems to be supported, just adding it to a particular calendar is not available in all incarnations of Outlook.
- Thanks, again something I was not aware of. I should read the fine manual more often :)

Matthias Leisi OK we'll look into "simple invites". It might be something simple to implement to add a specific maintenance to your calendar. Only problem is, it would not update in case of the maintenance window changing. Do you think it would be still useful?

According to https://icalendar.org/iCalendar-RFC-5545/3-8-7-4-sequence-number.html it should be sufficient to send the invite again, with the sequence number increased by 1 (and eg the date/time changed) and the Calender User Agent of the recipient should then do the right thing.
(Apparently I can only attach images here - I can send you an example .ics-file by mail if you reach out to me at leisi /at/ seppmail.ch)

Hi Matthias Leisi we actually have a Google calendar integration (https://docs.statuspal.io/platform/integrations/google-calendar) as well as support for iCal. Would these solve your need?
